Announced in August 2018, Developer Gato Salvaje’s Time-Travelling Fantasy RPG The Waylanders has gone live on Kickstarter. With former Bioware lead, Mike Laidlaw (Dragon Age: Origins, Jade Empire, Mass Effect) on board as a creative consultant, The Waylanders is aiming for a base goal of $150,000 USD and will provide the players with innovative and tactical combat, over 800 different skills, party formations and two different time periods to explore.
As the Kickstarter page reads, “The Waylanders is a party-based RPG inspired by beloved classics such as Dragon Age: Origins, Neverwinter Nights 2 or Baldur’s Gate. Featuring innovative and tactical combat system, The Waylanders brings to life the legends of the Celtic cultures to life. With 6 main classes, 30 advanced classes, and over 800 skills, you have many ways to create your hero. And the top-tier scriptwriters will let you experience an adventure never told in a video game before.”
One of The Waylanders’ most innovative features are formations. Formations allow you to use your party as a team, and fight with a strategic depth never seen in an RPG. Each class will have different formations to build, and each formation will have special abilities to use.
