With Quakecon around the corner, Bethesda is giving people a chance to dive headfirst into their sprawling MMORPG, The Elder Scrolls Online for free. In addition, the company is offering in-game store discounts and exclusive rewards during GamesCom.

The free play event has begun at 7.30 PM IST on the 9th of August and will be live til 7.30 PM IST on the 15th of August. This free pass applies to PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. It is worth noting that, while the event gives free access to the base game and Vvardenfell regions, subsequent expansion areas will not be accessible. But for six days, this should be more than enough.

PlayStation users also won’t need a subscription to PlayStation Plus to take part in the event. For Xbox One users, Xbox Live Gold membership is not required to participate in the event until August 12. However, if you wish to continue participating for the remainder of the event after that time, you must have an Xbox Live Gold membership. Players who already own the Elder Scrolls Online will also get access to Vvardenfell if they don’t already own that DLC.

A sale lasting til the end of QuakeCon 2018 (Monday the 13th of August) is also live. The Summerset DLC, The Elder Scrolls Online Collection, and The Elder Scrolls Online Standard Edition are all discounted, as well as some Crown Packs. This sale spans the ESO Store, Steam Store, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store.

Tonight at 9.30 PM IST, watch QuakeCon 2018’s keynote address live on Twitch to receive an exclusive ESO pet and Twitch Drops. The show will begin at 12:00PM EDT on Friday, August 10 and can be viewed on Bethesda’s official TwitchMixer, and YouTube channels. Note that you can only earn these rewards by watching on Twitch:

  • Flame Atronach Wolf pet
  • 5 Ouroboros Crown Crates
